An 80-mile flight northeast of Grand Cayman gets you to Cayman Brac, the larger of the two Sister Islands of the Cayman Islands. It is a quiet and peaceful island with a resident population of around 1,800 and is known for its rugged terrain and dramatic scenery. The eastern end of the island, The Bluff, has the highest elevation in the Cayman Islands, at 150 feet.
Divers come from all over the world for the wreck and reef diving, to see turtles, sharks and corals in pristine conditions. Anglers come for the excellent sports fishing. Onshore, besides plenty of trails, caves and beaches to explore, the island is a haven for many of the endemic flora and fauna of the Cayman Islands. The tranquility of Cayman Brac makes it an ideal retreat for property buyers looking for peace and quiet. Accommodation, schools and amenities are concentrated in the West End, Stake Bay (the capital), The Bluff and the Eastern Districts.
While peaceful, the island benefits from good infrastructure. It is home to high quality luxury boutique hotels and there are some beautiful beachfront homes for sale on Cayman Brac, perfect for a retirement or vacation home or investment property. Prices for land, condos and family homes compare very favourably to prices on the other two Cayman Islands. And while there are only a handful of restaurants and very little nightlife on the island, there is plenty to keep the adventurer busy.
